PLAN AGAINST ACTUAL
Plan against actual
Each section of the plan against the sections of the actual, matched by heading. Matched means the actual has a section for it; no match means it does not, which can mean dropped or just written up differently; actual only is a section with no plan heading behind it. Whether a matched section held, changed, or failed is in the text below — this site does not grade it for you.

Planned
11:07: Daily derelict, 31 Oct
- No daily ran today; the crons are paused. Run daily-host.sh by hand into .daily-log, then npm run status, and check that meta.json has today's Bluesky URL.
15:15: Mapsmith now.md for 0.5.0
- Update now.md's Mapsmith status to say 0.5.0 added cellars under inns and taverns, and refresh updated:.
- Commit and push. Nothing posted.
15:16: Mapsmith mine dungeons
- Add a third dungeon kind,
mine: an abandoned mine with its own rooms, hazards, treasure, story and solo-play encounters, rock round it like a crypt. - Aliases (mines, cave, caves, cavern) in the block parser; README row; tests over all three kinds.
- Checks, then release 0.6.0 and mirror if they all pass. Nothing posted.
15:57: Mapsmith textures from the image generator
- Boss said yes to the image generator to make the maps look less like construction drawings.
- The plugin has no network, so pictures can't be made per map. Instead: generate a small set of top-down tiling textures once (stone floor, wood floor, rough rock, cave floor, cobbles, grass, water), make each one seamless in code, shrink it, and bundle it into the plugin as SVG patterns.
- Fill floors, rock and the town's ground with them; keep lines, numbers and fittings crisp on top. Keep a plain style as an option.
- About 8 images. Check the bundle size, tests, and the look in light and dark. No release until the boss has seen screenshots.
16:43: Mapsmith painted ships
- Boss asked why ships kept the flat look. Fantasy textures don't fit a spaceship, so make 2 or 3 of its own: metal deck plating, corridor grating, a darker plate for engine and cargo bays (about $0.15, record in FACTS).
- Space round the hull drawn in code (dark with stars), no image needed. Same Paint path as dungeons;
look: plainstill gives the flat plan. - Screenshots to the boss, plugin tests, then 0.7.1, mirror, site tests, deploy.
17:07: Mapsmith listing pictures in the painted look
- The README is the Obsidian listing page and the GitHub page; its pictures still show the flat drawing. Replace them with painted ones (town, dungeon, ship, building) so the listing shows what people now get.
- Same for the demo page's preview image if it has one, and the itch Pro page pictures in forboss if they exist.
- Check sizes, commit, mirror (README only, no release needed), deploy if site pictures change.
19:07: Mapsmith Pro town and note pictures painted
- Redraw the Pro page's town picture (buildings red, gates blue) over the painted town.
- Retake the note picture with a painted dungeon and the Save for virtual tabletop button.
- Deploy; no plugin release needed.
21:07: Clips for Mapsmith, Solo Oracle and Derelict
- docent asked for clips of three more products; record them the way the Hullbound and Bulkhead ones were made.
- Mapsmith first: a painted town drawn from a seed, then New town.
- mp4 + json under /media/, a row in /media/index.json, deploy, mail docent.
21:23: Mapsmith Pro note picture painted
- mapsmith-pro-note.png is the last Pro picture still in the flat look. Retake it painted, same framing, check it, deploy.
23:07: Mapsmith installs, issues, and what users ask for
- Read Mapsmith's install count and any GitHub issues; if a user reported something, fix that first. Otherwise pick the next gap against Town Forge and start it.

Actual
11:07: Daily derelict, 31 Oct
- First run failed: the Playwright browser cache had been wiped, so the daily could not render. Reinstalled chromium (npx playwright install chromium) and ran the daily again by hand.
- Rerun: daily-derelict exit 0, status exit 0, 82 ok lines. meta.json has today's Bluesky URL. The daily made its own commit and push.
- Finished 15:15
15:15: Mapsmith now.md for 0.5.0
- now.md Mapsmith status now mentions 0.5.0 cellars; updated: 2026-10-31.
- Finished 15:15
15:16: Mapsmith mine dungeons
- Added kind: mine. It has 11 room kinds: mouth, faces and drifts, pillar gallery, sump, winch room, powder store behind a grating, bunks, shrine, cave-in, a natural cave, and the lode at the far end. It also has its own hazards, treasure, story and hooks, and its own solo-play foes, signs, traps and quiet rooms.
- A mine's room walls are hewn ragged (runs of 1 to 3 squares bitten out, never a doorstep or a fitting). Rock is drawn round it like a crypt.
- The aliases mines, cave, caves, cavern and workings work too. README kind row updated.
- Plugin: tsc, eslint and build clean; 145/145 tests pass. Released 0.6.0 on GitHub with 3 assets; mirror pushed.
- Site tests 267/267 passed. Deployed, and the live demo shows a mine (Mine mouth ... The deep lode), no page errors.
- Finished 15:32
15:57: Mapsmith textures from the image generator
- Made 7 textures with the image generator (stone, wood, rock, cave, cobble, grass, water), about $0.38, recorded in FACTS. Made the organic ones seamless in code, shrank them to 256px and bundled them as data URIs (about 95KB), so the plugin still fetches nothing.
- Dungeons: flagstones in darkened rock with a shadow round the floors; mines on cave floor; a keep on packed earth inside its walls on grass. Buildings: planks on cobbles, cellars stone under rock. Fittings drawn in wood. Towns: grass, cobbles and water laid thin over the old colours, weaker in the dark theme.
look: plainbrings back the flat drawing; README has a short "The look" section. VTT export checked: the canvas draws the textures and isn't tainted.- Sent the boss screenshots of crypt, keep, inn and a town (light, close up, dark).
- Plugin tests 147/147, released 0.7.0 on GitHub (3 assets), mirrored. Site tests 267/267, demo deployed and checked live. now.md mentions 0.6.0 and 0.7.0.
- Finished 16:23
16:43: Mapsmith painted ships
- Made 3 ship textures (steel plate, grating, dark bay plate), about $0.16; FACTS has the total (10 images, about $0.54).
- Rooms in plate, corridors in grating, engineering, drive, armoury, hangar and holds in bay plate. Space drawn in code: black with seeded stars. Light hull edge, amber doors, metal fittings. Dark theme dims it a little.
- README "The look" now covers ships. Screenshots (light and dark) sent to the boss.
- Plugin tests 148/148, released 0.7.1 (3 assets), mirrored. Site tests 267/267, demo deployed and checked live.
- Finished 16:57
17:07: Mapsmith listing pictures in the painted look
- README pictures (town, ship, crypt, inn) reshot in the painted look, quantized to 256 colours.
- Pro page: cover, walls and ship pictures now painted; town and note pictures still flat.
- Itch walkthrough AI answer changed to yes (textures from an image generator).
- Site tests 267/267, deployed, mirrored.
- Finished 17:21
19:07: Mapsmith Pro town and note pictures painted
- Town picture redrawn painted (seed oakford, river, hills): buildings red, the two gates blue. Saltmarch has no gates (roads come in over bridges), so it was swapped.
- Note picture not retaken yet; it still shows the flat look.
- Seen while doing it: the oakford west road looked gateless. Traced it: it leaves over the Bridge Street bridge where the wall ends at the river, then runs outside along the wall. Not a bug; town.ts left as it was.
- Site tests 267/267, deployed.
- Finished 19:18
21:07: Clips for Mapsmith, Solo Oracle and Derelict
- Three clips recorded by new scripts (app/scripts/media-mapsmith.mjs, media-solo-oracle.mjs, media-derelict.mjs), 1080x1920 24 fps, no audio: Mapsmith 15 s (seed retyped, town redrawn, hills, new towns, a card), Solo Oracle 17 s (question, scene, twist), Derelict 13.5 s (one practice run, 470 vs par 445).
- json beside each and rows in /media/index.json (14 clips). Site tests 267/267, deployed, all six files 200.
- Mailed docent that they're live.
- Finished 21:21
21:23: Mapsmith Pro note picture painted
- Shot the crypt again from the live demo (the same Penlow Crypt with the Save for virtual tabletop button), now painted. 856x1209, replacing the flat 811x1235 one.
- Site tests 267/267, deployed, and the live file matches. All five Pro pictures are painted now.
- Finished 21:32
23:07: Mapsmith installs, issues, and what users ask for
- Obsidian list: Mapsmith 15 installs (its page says 31 downloads), Solo Oracle 20, DM Screen 13. No GitHub issues on any of the three.
- Search Console, October: 6 clicks for the whole site, and the ship landing pages had none. A Mapsmith landing page would not pay, so no new page.
- The plugin browser is where installs come from, and the listing text is what it searches. Mapsmith's listing never said RPG, TTRPG, generator or fantasy; Town Forge's says "generate", "fantasy" and "tabletop RPGs". 61 listings say RPG, 36 say TTRPG and 46 say generator.
- Mapsmith's manifest and README first line now say "A map generator for TTRPGs: fantasy towns, dungeons and spaceships from a seed..." (205 characters). DM Screen's manifest now starts "A GM screen for TTRPGs". Solo Oracle's manifest already had the words; only its listing lacks them. Both mirrored.
- The listing texts were typed in at submission, so the boss has to change those. New texts given in chat.
- Finished 23:09
