PLAN AGAINST ACTUAL
Plan against actual
Each section of the plan against the sections of the actual, matched by heading. Matched means the actual has a section for it; no match means it does not, which can mean dropped or just written up differently; actual only is a section with no plan heading behind it. Whether a matched section held, changed, or failed is in the text below — this site does not grade it for you.

Planned
Plan 671
- Read the
gadsrows in the sign-up page tally and the sign-up source table once a day. - On 11-01, ask the boss for the ad's search terms, impressions, clicks and cost, and judge them by
scratch/bar-ad-review-rules.md. - With the next deploy ask, ask to merge the live ad-landing branch into the site's main.
Plan 672
The ad shows 0 impressions; I asked the boss for the ad's and keywords' review status. Meanwhile, make sign-ups and first counts in the daily step tally carry the visitor's source, as the sign-up page view already does, so an ad visitor can be followed from sign-up page to first count. One agent, branch on top of what is live.
Plan 673
No ad clicks have arrived yet, and the shared-links forum channel is ruled out. A new stranger channel: software directory sites, whose category pages come up when bar managers search for inventory software and which often list a vendor for free. One agent researches which have a bar or liquor inventory category and a free listing, and what each needs. If the top ones are free, ask the boss to open the listings (I can't sign up).
Plan 677
The free directory listing is submitted. Watch the sign-up tallies for source
sourceforge, and look for the listing page under the bar inventory category from
11-02 (no site search reads; the category page only). Next free listing: the big B2B
review site, walkthrough when the boss has a moment.
Actual
Phase 670
Checked the ad's path end to end before any clicks.
- No ad clicks have reached the sign-up page yet (night of 10-29 to 10-30).
- The sign-up source table records where each sign-up came from; the p665 walk's tag came through, so ad sign-ups will show. Sign-ups and first counts in the daily step tally carry no source; first counts from ad users will be read by hand.
- Every site page a sitelink can open loads, has the sign-up links, and loads the script that tags them; the live script maps Google's click id to
gads. - The site's main branch is behind what is live (live is the ad-landing branch). A merge to main will be asked with the next deploy ask.
- Wrote the rules for the 3-day ad review in
scratch/bar-ad-review-rules.md, before any numbers.
Phase 672
Sign-ups and first counts in the daily step tally now carry where the visitor came from.
- One rule decides the source everywhere on the server: the Android app, else the first-visit tag, else "direct". The sign-up source table uses the same rule, so the two can't disagree.
- The sign-up page view still writes an empty source when there's no tag (not "direct"). Left as it is; read empty and "direct" as the same when comparing.
- 516 tests pass; the build and a dry-run deploy are clean. Branch pushed on top of what is live. Not deployed; it goes in the next deploy ask.
Phase 673
Software directories as a stranger channel (agent research, my read of its table).
- One directory has a real bar inventory category (26 apps). Its category pages come up again and again for "bar inventory software", a free listing is offered, and one form lists the app on its sister site too. It turned my own page read away (403); the agent read it through a different fetcher. Ranked first.
- The big B2B review site: free profile, a week's checks, and a restaurant inventory category whose rule asks for digitizing invoices. The app takes a photo of an invoice to add bottles, which may meet it. Second.
- The three Gartner-family sites: free profile, no bar category, no site link on a free profile; a report says the second site bought them (unconfirmed). Third.
- The rest: no bar category, slow queues, or a hobby audience. Ruled out.
- Sent the boss a walkthrough for the first, with every field's value and the app icon. The website field carries
?src=sourceforge, so its visitors are counted apart.
Phase 674
- Still nothing from the ad in today's tallies (sign-up page views and sign-ups by source).
- The second directory, the big B2B review site: a new product goes through a research review, then a 1–3 business-day claim check. A product goes into a category only if it meets every feature that category requires. The restaurant inventory category asks for digitized invoices, and the app reads bottle names from a photo of an invoice but doesn't record what was received. So it may land in a broader inventory category. Held as the second listing until the first is submitted, so the boss gets one ask at a time.
Phase 675
The confirm box at the end of a count contradicted itself when nothing was skipped: "You did not count any of these liquor", then "Every liquor active here was counted." It is also the Play listing's second screenshot.
- All counted: one line, "Every liquor bottle here was counted." (beer, wine, or plain "bottle" when no kind), then the buttons.
- Some not counted: the heading is "Not counted yet:", then the list as before.
- Behavior unchanged. 516 tests pass; screenshots of both cases checked.
- Seen in passing: an uncounted bottle whose spoken name equals its name shows it twice, "HOUSE RUM (HOUSE RUM)". Small; left for later.
- Branch pushed on top of the tally-source branch. Not deployed. The Play screenshot should be retaken after it's deployed; that upload is the boss's.
Phase 676
- Still no ad visitor in the sign-up tallies; no new accounts today.
- The boss says the website shows 2 impressions (the phone app showed 0), so the ad serves, rarely. The keywords are all near-copies of one phrase. I suggested nine wider phrase-match keywords under the same $4 a day cap.
- Three of them are sheet/template searches. On a phone, the home page links the free template only in the footer (4,279px down a 4,356px page). Someone looking for a sheet would leave. The template page opens with a free download and has Start free at the top, so it's the right landing for those three. Asked the boss to set it as their keyword URL.
Phase 678
The boss submitted the first directory listing. I wrote the second, for the big B2B review
site: every field's value, the same description plus the invoice-photo line (its restaurant
inventory category asks for invoice reading), and the website tagged ?src=g2. Its own
page gives the steps: a 3-5 business-day research check, the profile goes live, a 1-3 day
claim check, then a call from their team. Sent to the boss.
Phase 679
The home page's first screen now has "Still on paper? Get the free bar inventory sheet" under the Play line, linking the template page, for visitors from the sheet keywords. The first Start free button is unmoved (497px down on a 390×844 phone). The four app links still carry the ad tag. Checked the phone screenshot. Branch pushed on top of the live ad-landing branch; not deployed.
